Boundary Dust Monitors
Design and Deployment of Solar-Powered Boundary Dust Monitors in the Pilbara Region
In the Pilbara Region of Western Australia, X2 Engineering collaborated with a Tier 1 mining client to design, fabricate, install, and commission bespoke environmental monitoring units.
The project’s objective was to track and monitor dust levels and wind direction to support mining operations.
Key requirements included delivering self-contained, solar-powered portable units capable of operating in harsh environments. These units provide integration with the client’s control system for remote monitoring of dust levels, wind speed, and direction.
Our team managed all aspects of the project, including the assessment of dust sensors, electrical, mechanical, and structural design, supply and fabrication of the skids, control systems programming and factory acceptance testing, integration with the client’s SCADA system, LTE network deployment, and on-site commissioning of the units.
