X2 Engineering showcased its expertise in delivering effective solutions for complex projects through the upgrade of a borefield control system for a Tier 1 mining client in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia. Our Control Systems and Electrical teams executed key improvements by upgrading communications from radio to LTE, replacing the existing PLC with a Schneider M340, and implementing a Master PLC system to manage 24 bores supplying water to both a mine and a town.

This system upgrade resulted in increased abstraction rates, essential for operational efficiency. We designed a control strategy to enable dynamic reporting and control of borefield assets, collaborated with the client’s engineering team for programming and testing, supplied and installed all necessary telemetry equipment, and completed the onsite installation and commissioning of the system. Our dedicated onsite and offsite support ensured a smooth transition and reliable operation, underscoring X2 Engineering’s ability to manage and execute complex control system upgrades for enhanced performance and efficiency.
